I began with a sketch, a story, and a question: what if metal could carry memory?
BATOKI was born during the lockdown, in a littel cottage, in Rishikesh, by the banks of Ma Ganga, under the glow of a full moon. Where I, Mitalee — writer, dreamer, seeker, and maker of your talismans — apprenticed in the ancient art of wax carving and metalsmithing. Months of fire, water, and devotion shaped my hands and my vision. From Rishikesh, I travelled and lived in the artisanal corridors of Jaipur and when I returned to Bombay, I locked myself in a room and began carving in wax what would become BATOKI: demi-fine, artist-made jewellery rooted in India’s soul, blending the worlds of magic, fashion & artisanal craft.

The Essence
BATOKI is not just a jewellery label. It is a portal — into mysticism, empowerment, and the divine feminine. Each jewel is a talisman: carved by hand, alive with story, and finished in our signature tones of Sun Gold (18K) and Moon Silver (92.5). To wear BATOKI is to adorn yourself not only with beauty, but with meaning — a whispered ritual in metal and light.

Our Craft & Philosophy
- Artist-designed: Every jewel is first sculpted in wax by Mitalee, keeping alive an ancient, pre-digital way of making.
- Made in India: Created in partnership with our family of karigars in Jaipur.
- Material-forward: Skin-fafe, lead-and nickel-free, 100% brass, plated in demi-fine Sun Gold and Moon Silver.
- Slow & intentional: Made to order, honouring mindful design, sustainability, and fair practice

About the Artist
Mitalee’s path was never linear. A writer first, then an experiential artist conceptualising events like India Bike Week, she followed curiosity across disciplines before metal found her. In Bali, she stumbled into her first encounter with metalsmithing. A few months later she found herself in Rishikesh, where she met her Guruji and apprenticed for seven months in wax carving and traditional metal working techniques.
On her return to Bombay, working from a tiny workshop in a basti, she poured those lessons into BATOKI. Every sketch, every carving, every motif is touched by her hand and guided by her fascination with magic, myth & memory. Through BATOKI, she offers not just jewels but relics of her own journey — fragments of story for you to carry, reimagine, and make your own.
Our People
BATOKI is for the seer, the siren, the warrior, the muse.
For those who move fluidly between softness and fire. Who choose symbols over trends, rituals over routine, soul over surface
The Motifs
Every BATOKI collection carries fragments of an inner mythology.
Signature motifs — the Visionary, Creator, Nurturer, Bloom, Passionals, and Moon — recur across chokers, stackable rings, and mix-match earrings. Each symbol is an archetype, an invitation to embody your many selves.
You're Invited
BATOKI is not fashion.
